Need more than 6 months to transition to the latest Service Pack?

We generally release service packs approximately every 18 months, and support previous service packs for 6 months after the release of the new service pack. If you need additional time to design, validate and test your upgrade plans, Long Term Service Pack Support can extend the support you get an additional 12 to 36 months in twelve month increments, giving you a total of 3 to 5 years of support on any given service pack.

Need assistance beyond General Support?

Most of our core server platform products have a 13 year lifecycle. For the first 10 years of general support, SUSE provides patches and technical support to customers with active subscriptions. For the next 3 years of extended support, customers continue to receive access to previously released patches in SUSE software repositories, as well as limited migration and configuration assistance. However, some specialized SUSE Linux Enterprise Server deployments require greater longevity, incorporating as little change as possible into these environments, and reducing updates to nothing more than the essential "must haves." For those customers that require this additional platform stability and a supported environment, Long Term Service Pack Support enables them to continue receiving security and maintenance patches, as well as technical support, into the extended support period, for a total of 13 years. An active SUSE Linux Enterprise Server subscription is required and some configuration limitations apply.

    • Priority subscriptions provide 24x7 coverage with 1 hour response for critical issues
    • Standard subscriptions offer 12x5 coverage with 2 hour response time for critical issues
  • Fixes for critical security issues
  • Fixes for severity level 1 and 2 defects

Long Term Service Pack Support does not include any software enhancement requests or hardware enablement.
