We are a little under 4 weeks away from SUSECON 2016 and here at SUSE, we are in full swing ensuring it is an event you won’t forget.  Back in August the session catalog became available and we followed the release up with a blog (Future Gazing—Crystal Ball or SUSECON?) to provide you with a more detailed look at what you can expect from SUSECON this year and the themes we have aligned to each day.  With over 150 sessions, it can be hard to determine what to add to your itinerary (we have a lot to say and unfortunately, not a lot of time); however, when it comes to IT Transformation, I’ve got you covered.  Take a look at my selection of the top three can’t miss sessions centered on IT transformation turning technological solutions into strategic business assets utilizing the cloud.  Be sure to add these to your schedule.

FUT92709 – The Future of the OS – the OS of the Future
Tuesday, Nov 8, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Thursday, Nov 10, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Matthias Eckermann – Director Product Management, Linux, SUSE

Linux as an operating system is ubiquitous, used everywhere, in a multitude of use cases, in various form factors and a dozen diverging deployment paths. And while the traditional way of a Linux distribution is driving most of the world’s IT, the paradigm is shifting: We all know about PaaS and CaaS, about Containers and Micro OSes, and we all “know” that those will replace the operating system – Do we know? Will they replace “the operating system”? – In any case, they are influencing how we think about “the operating system”. This presentation will discuss how SUSE thinks about the next generation of SUSE Linux Enterprise, targeted for 2018, how SUSE’s next generation OS will answer the requirements of the IoT, Containers, PaaS, and Cloud world, without letting down traditional OS users.
