Server Requirements

SUSE Manager server and SUSE Manager proxy server are provided as software appliances for installation on physical hardware or as virtual appliances for deployment on a range of hypervisors. Both servers can be deployed on all virtualization platforms supported for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1.

• Additional minimal system requirements for installing SUSE Manager include:
  • x86_64 server only
  • Intel Pentium 4 or later or AMD Opteron or later, 2GHz, 512K cache or equivalent (Recommended: Intel or AMD multi-core processor, 2.4GHz)
  • 4 GB of memory (Recommended: 8 GB)
  • 5 GB of storage for base install (Recommended: disk space of 50 GB)
  • 12 GB of storage for the database repository
  • Separate partition for storing backups

Managed Servers

• SUSE Manager supports the following operating system and hardware combinations for managed servers:
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP4 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 and SP2.
    • x86
    • x86_64
    • Itanium
    • IBM POWER
    • IBM System z
  • Most recent versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 5, and 6
    • x86
    • x86_64

Database Support

• You can either use the Oracle 11g Enterprise database included with SUSE Manager or one of the following supported databases on a stand-alone basis:
  • Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Standard Edition
  • Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Enterprise Edition
  • Oracle Database 11g
