Resource Stickiness parameter created during cluster bootstrap

This document (000021075) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP 15 SP4
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP 15 SP3
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 15 SP4
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 15 SP3

Situation

"crm cluster init" automatically creates a default value of "resource-stickiness" with id="build-resource-defaults" and value of "1". This however is different from the recommendation in SUSE best practices for HANA and SAP Applications, for example in the best practice guide for performance optimized HANA the recommended configuration is as below:

rsc_defaults rsc-options: \

    resource-stickiness="1000" \

    migration-threshold="5000"

This makes a duplicate entry for global resource stickiness parameter which is undesirable.

Resolution

As a permanent measure, the crmsh tool in future versions will handle the deletion of this default entry for resource-stickiness with id="build-resource-defaults".
However, until such a time that a permanent solution is released in the updates of "crmsh", as a temporary measure, the entry with id="build-resource-defaults" should be deleted before applying the recommendation from the best practices. Following command can be run to delete the existing entry:

crm_attribute -t rsc_defaults -n resource-stickiness -D

Cause

The default entry during cluster bootstrap is created due to a recent change in pacemaker upstream software.
The link for it is mentioned in the "Additional Information"
