The Orchestrator lists the total amount of OSDs for the OSD service specifications incorrectly

This document (000020806) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Enterprise Storage 7.0

Situation

When a cluster is configured with multiple Object Storage Daemon (OSD) service specifications, listing the OSD service specifications with the Orchestrator shows the total number of OSDs for the cluster incorrectly, for example:

# ceph orch ls
NAME          RUNNING  ...
osd.node_1_2      4/4  ...
osd.node_3_4      4/8  ...

Resolution

This cosmetic issue is fixed with SUSE Enterprise Storage 7.1.

Cause

The problem is due to a bug in the Orchestrator when multiple OSD specifications are used.

Additional Information

Listing the OSD specifications individually should show the total amount of OSDs correctly, for example by using:

# ceph orch ls --service-name osd.node_1_2
# ceph orch ls --service-name osd.node_3_4

The resolution with SES 7.1 was to actually remove the total count of OSDs from being shown. With SES 7.1 showing the OSD specifications with the Orchestrator will show only the amount of OSDs per specification, for example:

# ceph orch ls
NAME          RUNNING  ...
osd.node_1_2      4  ...
osd.node_3_4      4  ...
