HA - Pacemaker - Creating a cluster resource with a systemd service

This document (000020739) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP4
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP3
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP2

Situation

A given service needs to be configured as a part of cluster resource, for example CUPS.

Resolution

If there is not any specific Resource Agent for the service, like CUPS, for instance, then it is possible to configure it by clustering the systemd service. With the systemd unit file already loaded by systemd, the below command can be used to configure the resource:

crm configure primitive my-resource-name systemd:service.name

Replace the service.name by the systemd service to be clustered. This needs to be available on both nodes.  Remember to disable the service on boot on all the nodes since the cluster is responsible to control it.

systemctl disable service.name ; systemctl start service.name
