SUSE and PTC System deepen partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding to boost AI and High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions in Southeast Asia

SUSE and PTC System team members at the Memorandum of Understanding signing
SUSE Asia Pacific and PTC System (Singapore) today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing the adoption of AI and High Performance Computing (HPC) solutions across Southeast Asia. SUSE and PTC’s collaboration looks to empower enterprises in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia with best-in-class open source infrastructure and certified local delivery capabilities.
The broader context: Southeast Asia is levelling up its HPC capabilitiesÂ
Supercomputers and High-Performance Computing (HPC) allow organizations to model, simulate, and analyze vast datasets. These two tools are essential for solving critical real-world problems, such as: making extreme weather forecasts more accurate, speeding up vaccine development, and creating greener cities by simulating traffic and energy use.
Recent supercomputing investments in the region, such as the US$10mn Korea-ASEAN Digital Innovation Flagship Project (KADIF), Malaysia’s first supercomputer in Johor, and Singapore’s S$270mn (US$210mn) supercomputing investment also show the strategic importance of HPCs to national tech development agendas.Â
SUSE and PTC are ready to support organizations that want to build and accelerate supercomputing capabilities, especially with the prevalence of AI and LLMs already bringing sweeping new changes to business models and economies.Â

S.S. Lim (CEO, PTC System) and Gayathri Peria (General Manager for Southeast Asia, SUSE) signed the MoU as a commitment to strengthen open source supercomputing enterprise solutions

SUSE and PTC look to support HPC efforts regionally
With this MoU, SUSE will provide technical expertise and intellectual property, and PTC System will serve as a regional delivery and implementation partner for SUSE. Together, they’ll look to solve challenges on AI and HPC-led workloads across industries like government, financial services, manufacturing, energy, and academia. Â
Technologies that will be jointly offered include SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), SUSE Rancher (Kubernetes management), SUSE Virtualization (Harvester), and SUSE AI & Cloud Native Stack. Overall, this means organizations will receive enterprise-grade services and support, built on SUSE’s open source innovation and PTC’s services advisory strength.Â

SUSE and PTC perspectives on the enhanced partnership
Commenting on the MoU, Gayathri Peria, General Manager for SUSE Southeast Asia, said: “Supercomputing is at a fascinating crossroads in Southeast Asia especially as we navigate the winds of change brought by LLMs and other AI. Open source can provide greater support for innovation, for example by ensuring that technologists have access to latest developments and resources. Through this MoU, we aim to provide strong proof-of-concepts that show how AI and HPC applications can deliver positive technology outcomes. All while supporting the people who remain at the heart of these exciting use cases.”
Ken Chua, Managing Director at PTC System (IIJ Group) added: “Accelerated computing is transforming Supercomputing for the High Performance community to support national research initiatives and industrial applications. PTC is honoured to partner with SUSE by building and delivering scalable compute and secure data platforms for organisations and scientists. Together, we hope to scale scientific imperatives on High Performance Computing and AI factories, and accelerate regional AI ambitions. By investing in AI and supercomputing resources, Southeast Asia’s enterprises can remain competitive and improve the well-being of its people by raising productivity and creating new value through every part of the economy.”Â
