Execute curl command failed with '60'

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

NOTE:
The Novell Customer Center (NCC) and nu.novell.com are not available anymore.
SLE10 and SLE11 Systems still registered to the Novell Customer Center (NCC) can be migrated
to the SUSE Customer Center (SCC) as outlined at:
https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=000019508

When attempting to run the Novell Customer Center configuration, the error :

Execute curl command failed with '60': curl: (60) SSL certificate
problem, verify that the CA cert is OK.

Details: error:14090086:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify
failed

occurs. This is displayed in a pop up window, as well in the /var/log/messages file.

Resolution

The certificate is failing to verify due to an incorrect date (set to a future time). Set the proper date and time on the computer.

The default  bundle is named curl-ca-bundle.crt; you can specify an alternate file  using the --cacert option. If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in  the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a  problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might  not match the domain name in the URL). If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use  the -k (or --insecure) option. (4)
