Gconf-editor unable to remove mandatory preference setting

This document (3077971) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Using gconf-editor to change the mandatory property setting of a preference (i.e. via a right click on the property and selecting "Unset Key") the preference appears to change, but attempts to edit the object show that it is still marked read only and cannot be changed.

Run gconf-editor as the root user and edit the mandatory setting using the File | New Mandatory Window. This will allow the property to be changed and saved.
