SUSE Telco Suite accelerates telco transformation and innovation

BARCELONA (Mobile World Congress)

SUSE®, a global leader in innovative, open, and secure enterprise-grade solutions, today announced SUSE Edge for Telco 3.2. This update introduces differentiated product bundles, a new Long Term Support (LTS) strategy, early access to new features for Radio Access Network (RAN) and advanced networking use cases. SUSE Edge for Telco is a telco-optimized edge computing platform that enables telecom companies to innovate, improve operational efficiencies, and accelerate network modernization.

"SUSE Edge for Telco 3.2 is a very successful milestone in our journey to help Telcos modernize their networks and accelerate their innovation,” said Keith Basil, general manager, Edge Business Unit at SUSE. “SUSE’s open source, cloud native platform is in production and successfully deployed in many countries. This release offers a number of new features, as well as technology-preview support for IPv6 and PTP/Time synchronization, both of which are critically important for Telcos to achieve scale and performance."

With the ROI on 5G investments under scrutiny, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) are under immense pressure to reduce costs and accelerate time to revenue. Addressing this challenge requires greater disaggregation of traditional network architectures. The Linux Foundation Networking’s Project Sylva is tackling this issue by advocating for network cloud deployments built on best-of-breed open source technologies. By adopting a unified, open source CaaS layer such as SUSE Telco Suite, CSPs can eliminate the complexity of managing multiple vertically integrated telco stacks. As a governing board member of Project Sylva, SUSE is deeply aligned with the initiative and its broader open source community to address these technical challenges and optimize telco cloud infrastructure. SUSE Telco Suite is the foundational Telco platform that underpins the cloud-native CaaS offerings of multiple Tier-1 CSPs, including Orange.

Packaged Solutions

SUSE Telco Suite delivers optimized solutions for 5G core, vBNG, RAN, and edge deployments, enabling CSPs to streamline operations, enhance scalability, and integrate seamlessly into cloud-native networks. By integrating SUSE Security, SUSE Storage, and an optional SUSE Virtualization add-on, it provides a secure, scalable, and resilient foundation for next-generation networks.

For RAN and edge clouds, SUSE Telco Suite offers a high-performance, real-time telco stack. It simplifies 5G rollouts, Open RAN adoption, and edge computing while reducing complexity and costs. With pre-configured, open source solutions, SUSE helps CSPs automate, modernize, and future-proof their telco cloud infrastructure.

New Long Term Support Strategy

SUSE Telco Suite introduces a new LTS strategy that guarantees full stack support for 24 months, providing customers greater stability and long-term planning capabilities.

Supporting Communication Service Providers

SUSE also helps CSPs to shorten innovation cycles and expand their customer base by providing a common CaaS platform to deliver Telco and edge services to new customer segments, across various industries with guaranteed performance and quality of service.

  • The SUSE Telco solution provides a flexible, telco-optimized platform with Validated Designs tailored for CSPs and their ecosystem of vendors. Provide support for ARM, AMD and Intel platforms. The validated designs dramatically improve customer ramp-up time and ensure the performance of telecom networks.
  • The SUSE Telco platform provides a management solution that equally scales and is designed to easily deploy the full Telco cloud stack, from OS to network functions. It handles Day 2+ operations in a fully automated manner.
  • It builds on the integrated compliance, security capabilities and certifications of our underlying platforms. SUSE Edge for Telco then extends value, applying best practices in configuration, delivery, and governance utilizing these capabilities.

SUSE at Mobile World Congress

SUSE will be on site at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at booth #2A6, Hall 2 and is showcasing joint innovations with key partners including:

Orange, who has successfully deployed in production in many countries, a CaaS platform built on Sylva and commercially supported by SUSE. Orange’s CaaS platform can host Network Functions from Core to RAN.

SUSE is also showcasing Parallel Wireless’ GreenRAN™ Hardware-Agnostic solution, which is built on SUSE’s Sylva-compliant Telco platform. SUSE and Parallel Wireless will jointly demonstrate how the SUSE Telco Suite enables seamless and zero-downtime upgrades of the innovative GreenRAN solution on any hardware architecture.

“By joining forces with SUSE, we’re delivering innovative, hardware-agnostic solutions that elevate telco services and ensure high-quality customer experience and energy efficient networks,” said Netanel Gabizon, Chief Product Officer at Parallel Wireless. “With SUSE Telco for Edge and our GreenRAN™ solution, operators can achieve continuous DU availability, even during upgrades, and drive future-ready network operations with zero-touch automation.”

The partner showcases at the SUSE booth demonstrate the successful adoption and deployment of the open source, cloud native Sylva Telco stack to host CNFs, while increasing the pace of innovation and reducing operating expenses.
