Error: cannot downgrade from version 5.0.4.1 to 5.0.5

Resolution

Before running the upgrade command to update the container; verify SUSE Manager and SUSE Manager extensions are registered to SCC. It is also required to upgrade the mgradm tool on the host server first. Note that if using SLE Micro, this additionally also requires a reboot.

The below procedure is an excerpt from the online documentation:

Procedure: Upgrading Server
  1. Refresh software repositories with zypper:

    zypper ref
  2. Apply available updates:

    1. For SLE Micro:

      $ transactional-update

      If updates were applied, reboot.

      $ reboot
    2. For SUSE Linux Enterprise Server:

      $ zypper up

Cause

The latest mgradm is not installed on the host server. SUSE Manager Extensions not registered.
