Service Pack migration to SLES15SP6 via RMT server fails showing Valid metadata not found error

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5 for SAP Applications

 


Situation

The following error is returned when upgrading SLES15SP5 to SLES15SP6 using a RMT server:

Valid metadata not found at specified URL

History:
 - Signature verification failed for repomd.xml

Resolution

1. Disable all SLES15SP6 products and repos in RMT server:

rmt-cli products disable <SLES15-SP6_Product>

rmt-cli repos disable <SLES15-SP6_repo>

2. Clean up the mirrored data:

rmt-cli repos clean

3. Check and verify SLES15SP6 related products and repos are no longer existence in RMT server:

rmt-cli products list

rmt-cli repos list

4. Add, sync, and mirror SLES15SP6 products and repos again:

rmt-cli products enable <SLES15-SP6_Product>

rmt-cli repos enable <SLES15-SP6_repo>

rmt-cli sync

rmt-cli mirror

Cause

The RMT server‘s SLES15SP6 repo metadata is corrupted for some reason.
