This document (000020279) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 12

Situation

The supportutils-plugin-ha-sap RPM package extends the capability of supportconfig and will gather additional HA and SAP related information pertaining to the SUSE HA cluster solutions documented in the SUSE Best Practice Guides .   This includes both SAP HANA and the SAP NETWEAVER /SAP S/4HANA solutions.

Resolution

Package Name: supportutils-plugin-ha-sap
Contents of package:
# rpm -ql supportutils-plugin-ha-sap
/usr/lib/supportconfig
/usr/lib/supportconfig/plugins
/usr/lib/supportconfig/plugins/ha_sap
NOTE: The supportconfig plugin utility is not installed by default.  It will need to be manually installed before gathering the supportconfig.   Having this plugin installed before running supportconfig and opening a service request should speed up case resolution.
# zypper in supportutils-plugin-ha-sap
Running the normal supportconfig script will automatically run any plugin scripts installed by default and create the compressed archive in the /var/log/ directory.
    Example format: /var/log/scc_<hostname>_<date>_time.txz

When the supportconfig archive is extracted,  the plugin output is called plugin-ha_sap.txt

NOTE:  Often times on large HANA servers,  the openfiles.txt and proc.txt gathering process can take awhile and the output is very large.  It can be excluded from the supportconfig gathering by using the -o keyword options (OFILES,PROC).
# supportconfig -o OFILES,PROC

In collecting troubleshooting information about the SAP application configuration,  the plugin queries SAP provided utilities, such as `HDB`, `hdbnsutil`, and `sapctontrol` and will also switch into the <sid>adm user.   The full details of its operation can be inspected directly from the source script at `/usr/lib/supportconfig/plugins/ha_sap`.
