This document (000021008) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3.x

Situation

After the bootstrap completed without errors and the salt-key is accepted the system does not show up in the SUSE Manager webUI system list.

In '/var/log/rhn/rhn_web_ui.log' located on the SUSE Manager server the following message is seen:

2023-02-15 08:59:55,915 [salt-event-thread-7] WARN  com.suse.manager.webui.services.impl.SaltService - Got no result for grains.items on minion <name> (minion did not respond in time)

com.suse.salt.netapi.exception.SaltException: Master not found in minion configuration

Resolution

Increase the timeout by adding the following line to '/etc/rhn/rhn.conf' located on the SUSE Manager server:

java.salt_presence_ping_timeout = <value>

The default value is 4 (seconds), adjust the value within a range of 4-400 (seconds).
After this a restart of spacewalk is needed:

# spacewalk-service restart

Cause

The affected system is unable to respond back to SUSE Manager within the configured timeout
