This document (000020738) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3 Server
SUSE Manager 4.2 Server

Situation

When the client is deleted from SUSE Manager Server (e.g. using web-UI) the following message appears: "Please check the cobbler service". There are no related error messages in "/var/log/cobbler/cobbler.log" or in "/var/log/rhn/rhn_web_ui.log". There is an error message visible in "/var/log/rhn/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.log",however, and it reads:

Resolution

Make sure that both ports (80 and 443) are enabled in "/etc/apache2/listen.conf"
Listen 80

<IfDefine SSL>
    <IfDefine !NOSSL>
    <IfModule mod_ssl.c>

        Listen 443

    </IfModule>
    </IfDefine>
</IfDefine>

Cause

In "/etc/cobbler/settings", there is defined "http_port: 80":

susemanager:~ # grep http_port /etc/cobbler/settings
http_port: 80
When the httpd service is listening on port 443 only:
susemanager:~ # lsof -P -i -n | grep httpd
httpd-pre  7250   wwwrun    6u  IPv6  5720850      0t0  TCP *:443 (LISTEN)
...
The connection to port 80 can not be established and "Connection refused" message appears.
