When the iSCSI Gateway is created using the "gwcli" command line, an error similar to the following occurs:

  /iscsi-target...0822/gateways> create
  Adding gateway, sync'ing 1 disk(s) and 0 client(s)
Failed : failed package validation checks - OS is unsupported

Add the "skipchecks=true" parameter to the iSCSI Gateway creation command.
For example:

  /iscsi-target...0822/gateways> create skipchecks=true
OS version/package checks have been bypassed
  Adding gateway, sync'ing 1 disk(s) and 0 client(s)

If not using RHEL/CentOS or using an upstream or ceph-iscsi-test kernel, the "skipchecks=true" argument is required.

This will avoid the Red Hat kernel and rpm checks.
