Environment

SUSE Enterprise Storage 6

Situation

The command "salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.4" hangs on ceph.igw.restart after adding the rados gateway role to iSCSI nodes.

"salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.2" ran without error.
Also, "salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.3" ran without error.

Running "salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.4", but "deepsea monitor" shows the following:
"
[15/32] ceph.igw.restart on
ses-igw01.ses.example.com.............................................................. ⏳ (1765s)
"

Resolution

Run the following commands
salt '*' saltutil.sync_all
 then
salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.4
salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.4

Cause

Customer had updated deepsea package "zypper up deepsea", but did not sync the deepsea modules to the nodes in the cluster with "salt '*' saltutil.sync_all".

Status

Top Issue

Additional Information

Running the command "salt-run state.orch ceph.stage.0" will also resolve the issue, as stage.0 will also execute "salt '*' saltutil.sync_all", the entire cluster is patched in a serial process.
