SLE 15 Live Patching does not show any new patches

This document (7023443) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15

Situation

On a SLE 15 system Live Patching has been enabled but no new patches are found.

SLE-LP instances which installed kernel package 4.12.14-25.13.1 between 2019-08-16 and 2018-09-28 will not see live patching updates for that kernel until fixed. The root cause is that associated live patch package was not pulled into the system upon kernel package installation.

Systems which installed kernel-default-4.12.14-25.13.1 after the above indicated time period are not affected.

Resolution

This issue was automatically fixed by the release of kernel-livepatch-SLE15_Update_3 / kernel-livepatch-4_12_14-25_13-default = 2-2.2.

As superuser issue the following command to trigger kernel live patch dependency re-evaluation:
# zypper in -f kernel-livepatch-tools
