This document (7023173) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 3.2
SUSE Manager 3.1
SUSE Manager 3

Situation

After creating a configuration channel for managing salt based clients, any binary file used will get corrupted (that means, the checksum will differ).
This problem is not observed with traditional clients though.

Resolution

A fix has been created in order to address this issue. Please make sure the SUSE Manager server is running on the latest patch status. As patches have to go through a process of QA, it might be possible that the patch has not been released by the time this article is being checked. Should that be the case, please contact support in order to get a PTF (program temporary fix), in case waiting for the official release is not an option.

Cause

A bug in the spacewalk implementation for salt.
