Removing the user list on the login screen in SLE12

By default the login screen for SLE12 will show a list of available users to chose from for logging in.  Removing that list and only providing a login username prompt can be preferable for security reasons.


To remove the user list so that only a username prompt appears on the login screen do the following as root:

1. Using your favorite editor create the following file:


2. Add the following contents:

# Do not show the user list

3. save and exit the file

4. run dconf update

5. rcxdm restart

After the desktop restarts the login screen should now present the user with login name and password prompts.
