pci=pcie_bus_perf boot parameters results in kernel crash

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 (SLES 11 SP3)
kernel version 3.0.101-0.35.1 or older

Situation

Certain system configurations may cause an OS crash during bootup if booted in UEFI and using the pci=pcie_bus_perf kernel parameter.

This is a known issue and SUSE is currently working on a fix.

Customers affected by this issue, who cannot afford to wait for maintenance updates to address this problem, are advised to contact Novell Technical Services to request Problem Temporary Fix (PTF) packages.
