Screen Constantly Flickers During Installation of SLED11 SP2 on IBM SurePOS 700 - 4800-721

This document (7010522) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 Service Pack 2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service 11 Service Pack 2

Situation

During the GUI installation of SLED11 SP2 on the IBM SurePOS 700 - 4800-721, the screen constantly flickers and the display is fuzzy and not visible.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by using the Intel video graphics driver during installation.  This is done by adding the  "acceleratedx=1" boot parameter during installation.

When this parameter is included during installation it will automatically be added to the system grub boot configuration; it is required for system graphics support.

Cause

This screen problem is caused by the default and fall back installation graphics drivers not working properly on this system.
