No printing possible after online update

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 Service Pack 1

Situation

In rare cases HP LaserJet printers no longer work after running an online update.
/var/log/messages shows errors like:

hpcups[123456]: prnt/hpcups/HPCupsFilter.cpp 366: DEBUG: Bad PPD - hpPrinterLanguage not found

and at the same time there's an error in /var/log/cups/error.log:

printer foobar is idle.  enabled since Wed Oct 16 12:00:02 2011
        /usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed

Resolution

Reason is the updated hplip-hpijs package which installs HP hpcups driver version 3.11.

The printerconfiguration wasn't updated and the configuration files still point to the old version 3.9 of the driver.

Solution is to run YaST2 and reconfigure all affected printers.
The errormessage in /var/log/cups/error.log tells which printers have to be reconfigured.
In some cases it's necessary to use driver hpijs instead of hpcups.
