After installation of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3 the boot loader and network remain unconfigured

This document (7006247) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3

Situation

After performing an installation of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3 from a network installation source neither the boot loader nor the network are properly configured. An installation of Service Pack 2 works flawlessly.

Resolution

Check whether the boot and root system (installation kernel, initrd and installation system) used to install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 are all on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3 level. Accidentally using components from Service Pack 2 or earlier to install Service Pack 3 will result in malfunctioning YaST modules at the end of installation.
