Oracle backup fails with EIO when direct IO and asynchronous IO is used

When running the Oracle backup process, it fails with I/O Errors written to the Oracle log.


This is a known issue caused by problems in the kernel based asynchronous I/O and direct I/O features. This issue was fixed for SLES10 by the kernel release , and for SLES9 by the kernel release 2.6.5-7.315
