This document (7001559) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

For XEN debugging purposes SUSE Technical Services asked to increase the logging level for Dom0 and DomUs.

Resolution

Please edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and search for the XEN section:

###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: xen###
title Xen -- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 - 3.0.13-0.27
    root (hd1,0)
    kernel /xen.gz vga=mode-791
    module /vmlinuz-3.0.13-0.27-xen root=/dev/system/root resume=/dev/system/swap splash=verbose showopts vga=791
    module /initrd-3.0.13-0.27-xen

Add the following options to the line kernel /xen.gz:

log_lvl=all guest_loglvl=all

save the changes. As the settings are read only upon system start, a reboot to activate the changes is required.
