After Update to SLE 10 SP2, SPident reports, that the system is NOT up-to-date

This document (7000477) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2

Situation

After performing an update to SLES/SLED 10 Service Pack 2, SPident reports that the system is NOT up-to-date due to latex2html-pngicons being too old. The output of SPident -vv might be as follows:

SPident -vv

Summary (using 1064 packages)
Product/ServicePack conflict match update (shipped)
SLE-10-x86_64 0 0% 385 36.2% 0 (2754 14.0%)
SLE-10-x86_64-SP1 0 0% 541 50.8% 0 (2938 18.4%)
SLE-10-x86_64-SP2 2 0.1% 1063 99.9% 0 (3111 34.2%)
- latex2html-pngicons 2002.2.1-379.2 < 2002.2.1-379.5

Legend for Package Details:
- conflicting package (found < expected)

CONCLUSION: System is NOT up-to-date!
found SLE-10-x86_64-SP1
expected SLE-10-x86_64-SP2

latex2html-pngicons on the SP2 media indeed has version 2002.2.1-379.2, not 2002.2.1-379.5

Cause: This is rather a cosmetical issue. The latex2html-pngicons package is different between SLES and SLED. As the SPident data is a merge between the two products, the one having the older release number (SLES) is reported as "not up to date".

Resolution

There is now an updated latex2html-pngicons package available which has a newer version number (2002.2.1-379.5). Installing this update via YOU, rug, or zen-updater will fix the SPident issue.
