Evolution is not able to fetch more than 2 mails via POP3

This document (3566350) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

Evolution has been configured to fetch mail via POP3 but Evolution fetches only the first 2 mails. With the third mail Evolution shows that it is processing but hangs at this point (without crashing). When the "get mail" is cancelled and restarted, Evolution fetches the next 2 mails.

Resolution

Please check the option "Disable support for all POP3 extensions" in "Receiving options".

The option "Disable support for all POP3 extensions" is always helpful if you have trouble downloading your emails when accessing older or misconfigured servers. POP3 extensions are add-ons to the Post Office Protocol which enable various levels of greater functionality. Some servers support them; some do not.
