How to select or switch between KDE and GNOME desktop environments

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10

Situation

Need to choose desktop environments.

Resolution

Go to the login screen by booting the workstation or server normally or if already logged in right click empty space on the desktop and select Log Out then click on End Current Session.
 
In SLES or SLED 10 there is an option button at the lower left part of the login screen. Click on the blue button or the words"Session Type". A popup menu will display various options including KDE and GNOME if they have been previously installed. Select the desired desktop environment and login.
