net-snmp crashes on walking

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1
 

Situation

When configuring net-snmp-5.3.0.1-25.22 to proxy, only snmpget works; snmpwalk or snmpgetnext make the SNMP daemon snmpd crash.

Resolution

Please update to version 5.3.0.1-25.25 of net-snmp via online update.

Additional Information

How to reproduce: use the following settings in /etc/snmpd.conf:
 
proxy -v 2c -c public 127.0.0.1:1161 1.2.3.4.1
 
accessing snmpd through
 
snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 127.0.0.1:161 .1.2.3.4.1
 
returns:
 
iso.2.3.4.1.1 = INTEGER: 44
iso.2.3.4.1.2 = Gauge32: 141681680
iso.2.3.4.1.3 = Gauge32: 2863333376
iso.2.3.4.1.4 = INTEGER: 0
Timeout: No Response from 127.0.0.1:161
 
Checking the status of snmpd afterwards shows the snmpd process died:
 
rcsnmpd status
Checking for service snmpd:        dead
