Collaborating for intelligent orchestration of the software-defined data center
SUSE and SaltStack are expanding their partnership to offer customers automated management of virtually all data center resources at massive scale. SaltStack Enterprise and SUSE Manager 3 running on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server deliver intelligent, event-driven orchestration of heterogeneous enterprise IT systems today. SUSE and SaltStack are collaborating to further integrate and extend these capabilities through upstream development to optimize cloud, container and storage resources, thus enabling digital business.
Event-Driven Orchestration
Salt, the open source project for automating and creating real-time, proactive, event-driven configuration management of Linux environments has been integrated to SUSE Manager 3. Using Salt based configuration management customers can deploy at scale, tens of thousands of systems, without trading security for agility. With real-time configuration and monitoring, time-consuming process to patch hundreds or even thousands of servers in large environments is improved significantly.
Enterprise Ready Orchestration
SaltStack Enterprise is used by sys-admins and developers to intelligently automate configuration management, private cloud building, public cloud orchestration and autonomic infrastructure. Together with SUSE they collaborate on innovative DevOps technology for the data center.
SaltStack Enterprise can enhance the capabilities of SUSE Manager 3 by automating the management of virtually all data center resources including Linux, Windows, Mac and UNIX platforms. SaltStack Enterprise also supports large multi-master environments at massive scale, in addition to providing enterprise-grade features such as user access control, job and system audits, data persistence and dashboards, and event filtering.
SaltStack Enterprise and SUSE Manager 3 are both built on Salt open source configuration management software and validated on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to deliver IT automation software for the modern data center.
