How Intel and SUSE Work Together
SUSE and Intel are longtime peer-to-peer, engineering-level partners focused on joint solutions from the edge to core to cloud. Our strategic alliance stretches back decades and delivers innovative hardware and software solutions.
01
Infrastructure Enablement
SUSE was one of the earliest enablers of Intel Optane for the Linux OS, and we’re now working with Intel to ensure that the technology can be leveraged not only by SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, but by other offerings on SUSE’s portfolio
02
SAP Leadership
Both Intel and SUSE have significant strategic relationships with SAP. As SAP expands its solution ecosystem, both companies continue to collaborate to incorporate Intel’s latest silicon and software into the SUSE software-defined infrastructure (SDI) stack.
03
Data-Centric Transformation
SUSE and Intel help businesses better address the challenges of massive data increases with greater speed and agility with the combination of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Intel Optane DC persistent memory and latest generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors for fast, innovative, and secure IT services and to provide resilient enterprise S/4HANA platforms.
Joint Solutions
SUSE works closely with Intel to ensure that the latest features and capabilities of their processors and other products are supported by the SUSE product ecosystem—on-premises as well as in private, public, and hybrid cloud.
Software-Define Infrastructure and SAP
Intel Optane persistent memory is an innovative memory technology that delivers a unique combination of affordable large capacity and support for data persistence. When combined with SUSE Linux for SAP and HPC workloads, it can help businesses fuel innovation with increased and lower overall TCO. SAP leverages mostly Intel processors and SUSE is the primary OS for SAP HANA and other SAP solutions. As SAP expands to a cloud-native delivery model, Intel and SUSE continue to collaborate to add value including Rancher container management solutions.
Cloud Native and Multi-Cloud
A modern cloud strategy requires a combination of optimized hardware and software. Clouds powered by Intel technologies deliver reliable, scalable, workload-optimized performance across enterprise applications. SUSE and Rancher offer a proven multi-cloud container management platform available that supports any certified Kubernetes distribution, including those of public cloud providers such as Amazon EKS, AKS, and GKE. It also provides a rich catalog of services for building, deploying and scaling containerized applications, including app packaging, CI/CD, logging, monitoring and service mesh.
High Performance Computing and AI/ML
With deep learning acceleration built directly into the chip, Intel hardware is designed to support the convergence of AI and HPC. Your familiar Intel-based HPC infrastructure handles AI along with your big-data analytical workloads and more. SUSE AI Orchestrator includes everything needed to get customers up and running: AI development frameworks, editors, templates, and monitoring tools. SUSE and Intel collaborate to provide fully certified reference architectures which will, in the future, include Intel-optimized containers leveraging SUSE and Rancher offerings.
Edge and IoT
Intel helps customers get the right level of computing exactly where they need it for the optimal combination of performance per dollar, per watt. SUSE and Rancher offer K3s, a lightweight yet powerful certified Kubernetes distribution designed for production workloads across resource-restrained, remote locations or IoT devices. K3s simplifies deployment at the edge and helps customers to quickly launch thousands of clusters. Intel and SUSE are also working together to help organizations by using SUSE Multi-Linux Manager to consolidate management of diverse new endpoints.
