SUSE Manager for Retail

SUSE Manager for Retail is the next generation offering for point of service environments. It is an open source infrastructure management solution, optimized and tailored specifically for the retail industry. It is designed to help you reduce complexity with better control of IT assets, increase efficiency by optimizing and automating operations, and reduce costs of managing retail environments. It provides a reliable, flexible and open platform for managing point of service and point of sale terminals, kiosks, self-service systems and reverse-vending systems.

SUSE Manager for Retail brings together the best of SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service and SUSE Manager, where you can:

  • Centrally create, deploy and maintain images for Point of Service devices
  • Deploy software updates/patches to the Point of Service environment
  • Take advantage of Salt-based configuration management
  • Automate monitoring, tracking, and reporting of systems
  • Utilize stronger security to prevent data loss

This solution also provides system provisioning, orchestration and monitoring capabilities. All these capabilities together enable easy management and maintenance of the Point of Service environment. As a result, customers can reduce their total cost of ownership while securing enterprise systems and improving compliance and service quality.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service (SLEPOS)

Note that SUSE Linux Enterprise Point of Service remains a standalone product for the clients. Client devices need to be used for running typical point of service applications and services or supporting client applications (for example, a web browser). These client devices require SLEPOS subscriptions, and are the client components of the SUSE Manager for Retail solution.
