Making Progress to Net Neutral: Our 2024 Emissions Data
We’ve published our 2024 emissions data, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made. You can see the full data on our website, but I want to share some meaningful steps that we’re taking to make progress.
Optimizing data centers with renewable energy
Our data centers consume a lot of energy, and we’ve worked with our IT team to make sure they’re as efficient as possible. Last year, we relocated our two primary data centers in Prague and in Utah, to new locations that operate using energy from 100% renewable, clean energy sources. This resulted in emissions related to our direct operations reducing by 53%.
Rightsizing of offices
Our facilities team is constantly working to make sure that we’re using office space that suits us. Where needed, they’re relocating our offices to more efficient locations that more accurately reflect the needs of our people, and use less energy. We also pay a premium to secure renewable energy, and work with our landlords to accurately track our energy usage.
Transitioning to electric vehicles
We’re continuing to move company cars from diesel vehicles to electric vehicles.
New data visualization software
We’re using new software that tracks our emissions, with a 64% real time production of our usage. This has allowed us to collect much more accurate data to ensure that we’re reporting on our emissions.
Make sure you keep visiting our sustainability website to keep up to date on the progress we’re making. This is a small part of how we’re prioritizing sustainability at SUSE.
