SUSE and Mesiniaga have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating the adoption of secure, scalable, and enterprise-grade open source technology across Malaysia.

By combining SUSE’s innovative software stack with Mesiniaga’s deep local deployment and support expertise, this strategic partnership delivers a robust combination of Cloud-Native Containerisation and modern virtualization solutions designed to meet evolving market demands.

Supporting Malaysia’s Digital Governance Objectives

This partnership arrives at a pivotal moment for both public and private sector infrastructure in Malaysia. As organizations modernize to meet national digital blueprints and cloud computing policies, the strategic focus has shifted heavily toward data sovereignty, system interoperability, and seamless public service delivery.

Crucially, this collaborative framework aligns with the technical and security standards outlined by MAMPU / Jabatan Digital Negara (JDN), ensuring that public sector IT teams can deploy open source architectures with full confidence in meeting national compliance baselines.

According to a 2026 data sector analysis by Mordor Intelligence, virtualization and private cloud implementations remain the core engine of Malaysia’s enterprise server landscape, expanding at a robust 16.94% CAGR. To sustain this momentum, government bodies and enterprises require digital infrastructure that guarantees freedom of choice, vendor independence, and total control over their long-term IT roadmaps.

Optimizing Virtualization Strategies

As organisations continue to modernise their IT environments, many  are reassessing their virtualisation strategy in response to changing licensing models, rising infrastructure costs and the need for greater pricing visibility, commercial predictability and technology independence.

Through this strategic collaboration, Mesiniaga and SUSE will provide Malaysian organisations with a modern enterprise virtualisation platform that enables customers to modernise confidently while maintaining operational resilience and long-term cost efficiency.

The collaboration provides organisations with greater pricing visibility and commercial predictability, helping them better manage long-term IT investments while reducing total cost of ownership. By combining SUSE’s enterprise-grade virtualisation platform with Mesiniaga’s local expertise, customers can modernise their infrastructure confidently with a solution designed to deliver long-term flexibility, resilience and business value.

The platform also enables organisations to achieve a seamless migration from existing virtualisation environments with minimal operational disruption. Backed by Mesiniaga’s proven implementation methodology and local expertise, customers can modernise their infrastructure confidently while reducing migration complexity, accelerating deployment and ensuring business continuity.

Customers will also benefit from Mesiniaga’s local consulting, implementation, managed services and enterprise support capabilities. This ensures organisations have experienced local experts throughout every stage of their migration and ongoing operations, giving customers greater confidence in their modernisation journey.

Commenting on the strategic alliance, Gayathri Peria, General Manager for SUSE Southeast Asia, stated:

“SUSE is fully committed to supporting Malaysia’s vision of a resilient digital nation. Open source technologies serve as a cornerstone for transparent, secure governance by ensuring that IT leaders maintain total control over their data and code. By embarking on a strategic collaboration with Mesiniaga, we aim to provide public sector stakeholders and national enterprises with verified proof-of-concepts that maximize infrastructure value, maintain alignment with JDN guidelines, and safeguard continuity of service.”

Mr. ST Chua, Deputy CEO of Mesiniaga Berhad, added:

“Many organisations today are reassessing their virtualisation strategy as they seek greater commercial certainty, flexibility and long-term value from their technology investments. Through our collaboration with SUSE, Mesiniaga is delivering a modern enterprise virtualisation alternative that combines predictable pricing, lower total cost of ownership, hassle-free migration and trusted local support. Together, we are enabling organisations to modernise confidently while preparing for future cloud-native and AI-driven innovation.”
