KubeCon London: SUSE at the Heart of Cloud Native Evolution
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 in London was an exciting and engaging event, and SUSE was right at the heart of the action! SUSE’s participation included a diamond sponsorship of Kubernetes on Edge Day, SUSE Rancher Day and a SUSE party!
All three pre-event events were packed and showed that SUSE is a key player in the edge and Kubernetes market. The tremendous energy brought by Day 0 translated in a booth that was buzzing with conversations about the latest in cloud native innovations and how SUSE can truly make choice happen for our customers.
SUSE Rancher Day
SUSE Rancher Day is a must-attend co-located event for cloud native enthusiasts. This immersive day offered hands-on experiences with the newest SUSE technologies led by our experts, valuable networking opportunities with industry leaders, and even a fun trivia session. Key topics explored during SUSE Rancher Day included SUSE Rancher Prime, with a deep dive into features like Virtualized Clusters, and how the SUSE App Collection accelerates innovation and simplifies the deployment of SUSE technologies, including SUSE AI. We also provided a detailed overview of SUSE Observability, distinguishing it from traditional logging and metrics, and offered insights into SUSE Virtualization. The day culminated in a lively pub trivia and raffle, and an exclusive evening reception, further fostering connections with our customers, partners and the community.
Kubernetes Edge Day
Kubernetes on Edge Day focused on the crucial intersection of cloud native technologies and the rapidly growing field of edge computing, highlighting the necessity of adopting cloud native principles such as observability, loosely coupled systems, declarative APIs, and strong automation to effectively manage the increasing complexity of distributed edge deployments. With forecasts predicting edge spending to reach nearly $350 billion by 2027, the event underscored the significant role of Kubernetes as a vital component of the edge ecosystem, driving key integrations and operations.
SUSE Party
Geek out by day, party by night. To cap off day 0, SUSE hosted conference attendees at an evening reception. This social event provided an opportunity for attendees to network and unwind following a day focused on SUSE’s technologies at SUSE Rancher Day.
From the numerous discussions at our booth and the insightful sessions, several key trends emerged that directly align with SUSE’s strategic focus:
- The Growing Importance of Observability: A major theme throughout KubeCon was the increasing complexity of cloud native environments and the critical need for comprehensive observability. Customers are looking for solutions that provide full visibility across multi-cluster and multi-cloud environments, not just from a technical standpoint but also from a business perspective. SUSE Observability directly addresses this need by offering full visibility out-of-the-box, complete with pre-built dashboards and Google SRE integration, enabling teams to quickly understand and resolve issues. The challenge of applying observability to new technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs) was also a prominent discussion, highlighting the continuous evolution of this space.
- Real-World AI Adoption: The conversation around AI has matured significantly. Customers are now planning and implementing real use cases and require secure, private AI stacks. SUSE AI is positioned to meet this demand by allowing customers to choose their preferred LLMs and helping them run these securely, end-to-end within their own private environments.
- Modernization at Your Pace: Organizations are seeking practical paths to modernize their infrastructure, often involving a gradual transition from virtual machines to cloud native solutions. SUSE Virtualization enables customers to run VMs alongside containers, facilitating a step-by-step approach to cloud native adoption.
- The Rise of Platform Engineering: Platform engineering continues to be a critical area, with organizations looking for ways to improve developer experience and streamline application delivery. SUSE is actively investing in this area, combining tools like Rancher Desktop, Fleet, and the App Collection into validated designs that empower platform teams to accelerate their work.
- Emphasis on Control and Security: We observed a growing demand for sovereignty, with customers wanting to maintain control over their infrastructure, compute, and data. Additionally, supply chain security is a shifting focus. SUSE Rancher Prime is well-positioned to support sovereignty, and the SUSE Application Collection, a curated set of zero-CVE open source applications from a trusted supply chain, addresses the security concerns.
Overall, KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025 underscored the continued maturation of the cloud native ecosystem. SUSE’s strong presence reinforces our commitment to empowering customers with open source solutions for their cloud native modernization journeys. We look forward to continuing these vital conversations and helping our customers achieve their digital transformation goals.
