SSSD fails with "Failed to init kerberos context: included profile directory could not be found"

This document (000021812) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Multi Linux Manager 5.0.2
SUSE Multi Linux Manager 5.0.3

Situation

After upgrading SUSE Multi Linux Manager 5.0.2 to 5.0.4 SSSD fails with the following error:

Failed to init kerberos context: included profile directory could not be found

Resolution

The directory /etc/rhn/krb5.conf.d is missing, manually creating it will enable SSSD to start. To create the missing directory execute the following commands:

1.) mgrctl term
2.) mkdir /etc/rhn/krb5.conf.d
3.) restart sssd by running:
    systemctl restart sssd
4.) exit

Cause

With new deployments of SUSE Multi Linux Manager 5.0.4 this directory will be created automatically. While upgrading from older versions, the /etc/rhn/krb5.conf.d directory is missing.
