This document (7019892) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
Environment
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP3
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1
Situation
You will get the error:
"protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_RESET"
This is because the Windows server which has been configured to only allow SMBv2 will TCP RST the connection.
Adding "-m SMB2" parameter, to the smbclient command will result in the following error:
"Unrecognised protocol level SMB2"
Resolution
Cause
Samba 4.x which ships with SLES 12 does support SMBv2. (Durable handles support was added in 4.0.0)
