Prague is alive. And if you weren’t at SUSECON today, you should definitely put it on your calendar for 2027.
Day one of SUSECON 2026 was exactly the kind of start this event deserved. The energy in the Hilton Prague was contagious: engineers, executives, partners and open source enthusiasts from across the globe all came together to talk about what’s working in the industry these days, what’s not and how to build IT infrastructure that holds up no matter what gets thrown at it.
The SUSE Sovereign Summit set the tone
Before the broader conference got underway, Monday opened with the SUSE Sovereign Summit, an invitation-only executive event that brought together more than 100 senior leaders.
The conversations in the room were the kind you don’t get at most conferences. Decision-makers talked about what digital sovereignty actually means in practice: data residency, regulatory pressure, the EU AI Act, the Cyber Resilience Act and the organizational work it takes to move from policy to action.
Documentation, demos and hands-on learning
Next, the Documentation track got underway with a full day of sessions for technical writers, contributors and anyone invested in how SUSE communicates its technology to the world. The conversations covered building documentation environments with tools like Antora and AsciiDoc, AI-assisted writing strategies for both human and machine audiences and practical approaches to contributing back to open source documentation projects.
Down the hall, Demopalooza was standing room only. It was exactly what it sounds like: a fast-moving showcase of what SUSE technology looks like in the real world, from virtualization modernization to AI workloads. Everyone who wanted to see how the products behave IRL was there.
A night to celebrate the community
We wrapped the day with the Welcome Reception, a chance to decompress, meet people we’ve only known as a name on LinkedIn or in a Slack thread and remember why events like this are where true partnerships are born. Community is not a word SUSE uses lightly, and we made sure SUSECON reflects that.
Finally, we had the honor of recognizing this year’s SUSE Customer Award winners. These organizations are doing extraordinary work with SUSE technology, and seeing them recognized in person was the best way to close out the day.
More to come tomorrow. If you’re watching from home, check out some snippets from today in this video, and follow us on LinkedIn to catch every highlight as the week unfolds.
