We’re excited to share that SUSE Storage is now available on SUSE Application Collection. It’s the first SUSE-developed commercial application in the collection and marks a major step in how we deliver SUSE Cloud Native software to enterprise customers. With this release, it becomes faster and easier for platform teams to deploy production-grade Kubernetes storage while benefiting from the built-in efficiency, version control, and compliance features SUSE Application Collection already provides. Until now, SUSE Application Collection included only open source applications.

Enterprise Storage built from open source Longhorn

SUSE Storage builds on the proven foundation of Longhorn, the CNCF project known for simplifying cloud-native storage. That open source heritage ensures transparency, community innovation, and Kubernetes-native design. What SUSE adds is enterprise lifecycle, security validation,  and the kind of support global teams depend on. It’s the best of both worlds. A hardened, scalable storage that stays true to open source values.

Solving daily Kubernetes friction for platform teams

SUSE Application Collection was designed to solve the day-to-day friction that slows down modern platform teams. Whether it’s setting up GitOps, choosing between ingress controllers, or automating image updates, SUSE Application Collection simplifies every step of application onboarding without forcing teams to re-learn or re-integrate.

By adding SUSE Storage to the collection, we’re extending that same power to enterprise software. That means your developers can access, deploy, and update SUSE Storage the same way they already use other tools like Prometheus or ArgoCD.

SUSE Storage being part of SUSE Application Collection removes one of the biggest friction points in Kubernetes operations, that is deploying and managing persistent storage. Instead of stitching together YAMLs or manually configuring volumes, platform teams can now install SUSE Storage with the same ease as any curated open source app. The experience is consistent, declarative, and deeply integrated with Rancher Prime. It transforms what is often a cumbersome, error-prone setup into a one-click, GitOps-friendly deployment.

Simplifying secure access to SUSE software across your stack

Many enterprises rely on SUSE software to meet security, compliance, and support requirements, but don’t always have a simple path to consuming it alongside their cloud native stack. That complexity can slow down platform teams or force them to manage Rancher and SUSE software in completely separate workflows.

Adding SUSE Storage to SUSE Application Collection eliminates that gap with

  • Verified versions maintained by SUSE, available in one click
  • Built-in version tracking, lifecycle automation, and update control
  • Full security metadata, including SBOMs and signature validation
  • Complete transparency on vulnerabilities and

With SUSE Application Collection, you don’t need to manually patch, test, or curate what your teams use. You get a consistent, compliant way to deliver the software your business depends on.

Deploying SUSE Storage like any modern cloud native app

SUSE Storage is enterprise-ready storage for Kubernetes. It runs anywhere Rancher runs and delivers high-availability storage for stateful workloads at scale. As part of SUSE Application Collection, it now benefits from the same deployment and lifecycle model already trusted by teams using SUSE Application Collection today.

You can

  • Deploy SUSE Storage directly through Rancher Prime or GitOps
  • Monitor updates, enforce version consistency, and roll back with confidence
  • Meet compliance and security standards using signed images and published SBOMs
  • CSI compatibility for consistent provisioning and management across Kubernetes

This makes SUSE Storage easier to manage, easier to adopt, and easier to secure.

Toyota Material Handling advances Industry 4.0 with Longhorn

At Toyota Material Handling, the IT team needed a more efficient, reliable way to manage persistent storage across a dynamic, cloud-native stack. By adopting Longhorn, , they gained intuitive visibility, simplified storage operations, and enhanced data resilience.

“Not only did Longhorn help us overcome technical challenges in managing our data, but it also facilitated our Industry 4.0 initiatives for sustainable growth and innovation by optimizing our data management strategies,” said Michael Nichols, Information Security Architect at Toyota Material Handling.

With Longhorn’s dashboard, the team could easily manage persistent volume claims and track resource utilization. Longhorn also provided built-in data redundancy and protection from node failures by syncing data across the cluster. These capabilities made Longhorn a game-changer for advancing Toyota’s innovation goals.

This is just the beginning

Open source and community users benefit from this shift as well. By making SUSE Storage available through SUSE Application Collection, SUSE is giving users a seamless path from experimenting with community tools to running production-grade, supported infrastructure. You can start with open source tools like Longhorn and graduate to SUSE Storage without needing to re-architect or switch vendors. It’s a bridge from community innovation to enterprise confidence.

SUSE Storage is the first step. Soon, you’ll see more of SUSE delivered through SUSE Application Collection. This shift gives enterprise teams a single, unified way to access both community and commercial software across any environment while meeting the strictest compliance standards.

SUSE Application Collection is the central access point for trusted, supported cloud native software from SUSE, helping platform teams standardize while accelerating platform teams with developer self-service experiences.
