SUSE Brings Next-Generation Autonomous Agents to Enterprise AI With NVIDIA

The AI landscape is constantly shifting, and beyond the prompt we’re starting to see Autonomous Agents become the next frontier. As I wrote in my previous blog, From Silicon to Solution: Bridging the Gap at NVIDIA GTC 2026, this year is delivering a fundamental paradigm shift in infrastructure management thanks to Agentic AI. At SUSE, we are acutely aware of this evolution and are leading the way in its inception. We are addressing it by building extensive capabilities into our portfolio, ensuring your infrastructure isn’t just “AI-ready,” but “Agent-integrated.”
The foundation: AI-Assisted Infrastructure Management
As part of our “AI for Infrastructure” vision, this foundation includes our AI-enabled SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Rancher Prime solutions, providing the bedrock that simplifies IT management via agentic workflows. It also includes our SUSE AI portfolio that is purpose built to run, manage, secure, and deploy AI workloads at scale, no matter the deployment footprint.
Integrated with SUSE AI is our Universal Proxy, which acts as an intelligent “MCP Bridge”, orchestrating and securing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers across the estate, solving the fragmentation problem and allowing your agents to communicate with the entire infrastructure as seamlessly as they do with a traditional database, but with the governance and security that is mandatory in this new world.
Autonomous, long-running agents will drive the next wave of AI innovation. By operating continuously, accumulating rich context, and deploying specialized sub-agents, they will autonomously execute complex, multi-step workflows. SUSE is meeting this frontier head-on, not only by integrating with leading agentic vendors, but by engineering our core software to be intrinsically AI-ready.
We design this technology, in collaboration with our partners, to propel you forward, accelerate your business objectives, and give you back your most valuable resource: your time.
Autonomy built on partnership
SUSE enables the development and deployment of autonomous, long-running agents using NVIDIA AI infrastructure and hardware accelerators on top of our flagship offering, SUSE AI. This partnership provides our customers with the cutting-edge tooling needed to build, deploy, and secure sophisticated next-generation agentic AI within their enterprise, including the following NVIDIA Agent Toolkit software:
- NVIDIA AI-Q & NVIDIA OpenShell: For advanced reasoning, automated workflows, and task execution while enforcing strict security, privacy, and data governance controls between the agents and the underlying infrastructure.
- NVIDIA NeMo Agent Toolkit: An open-source AI framework to manage agentic dialogue and safety, while optimizing workflows and maintaining reliability. We’re also working together on NVIDIA NemoClaw — an open source stack that simplifies running OpenClaw always-on assistants, more safely, with a single command. As part of the NVIDIA Agent Toolkit, it installs the NVIDIA OpenShell runtime—a secure environment for running autonomous agents, and open source models like NVIDIA Nemotron.
- NVIDIA Nemotron Open Models: Purpose built for agentic AI, these highly-efficient open models deliver the high-performance accessible intelligence required for specialized autonomous tasks right from datacenter to edge.
A governed boundary for autonomous agents
Once built, agents need a highly-controlled operational boundary to execute their tasks safely. For an AI agent to be truly autonomous, especially when running financial models or accessing sensitive or proprietary company IP, it requires a foundation that maintains a strong security posture, is designed with digital sovereignty as a top priority, and is fundamentally reliable. You cannot trust an agent if you don’t trust the entire stack beneath it.
This is where SUSE’s 30-year legacy of building mission-critical software with open-source trust becomes your competitive advantage. We are extending this heritage into the Agentic Era, with the NVIDIA OpenShellopen-source runtime and SUSE AI as the foundation. This creates a ‘Zero-Trust’ layer that balances the speed of cutting-edge autonomy with the stability of a hardened foundation.
Sovereignty Without Lock-in
Enabling NVIDIA OpenShell within SUSE AI embodies our commitment to the power of choice. It allows any coding agent, from OpenClaw to Claude Code, to run in an isolated sandbox with zero code changes. We believe enterprises should not be forced to rewrite their intelligence for a proprietary sandbox; instead, the infrastructure should adapt to the innovator. We want to empower organizations to fully harness the potential of AI to accelerate their business objectives, but we know it must be done safely. By providing the governance, security guardrails, and observability required for modern compliance, SUSE offers the peace of mind needed to let agents operate at the speed of business.
Democratizing technology
At SUSE, we believe in democratizing access to the technologies that define our future. This next generation of autonomous AI assistants is the ultimate tool for democratization by:
- Empowering Knowledge Workers: Moving beyond the developer desk, we enable everyday professionals to build self-evolving AI assistants that understand their specific workflows, without needing to write code.
- A Productivity Multiplier for Developers: Instead of expecting teams to master the art of prompt engineering, we provide the technology to translate domain knowledge into actionable AI workflows, allowing developers to focus on high-value innovation while autonomous agents handle the heavy lifting of execution.
- Operationalizing Domain Expertise: Turning everyday work and institutional knowledge into an intuitive, actionable resource that an AI can understand and execute.
Enabling workers to create their own advanced AI assistants is a productivity multiplier and a catalyst for business-wide innovation. The integration of long-running, multi-agent AI into our established enterprise management systems isn’t just a trend; it is the future of work, and at SUSE, we are building the secure, agent-integrated foundation to help you lead it.
