Empowering Our Ecosystem: Enhancing Security and Sovereignty with SUSEID
At SUSE, our commitment to the open source community goes beyond the software we build. It also extends to how we protect our users and uphold the principles of digital sovereignty. As we continue to evolve our digital infrastructure, I am proud to announce the launch of SUSEID, our new, unified authentication system designed specifically for our global ecosystem of customers, partners and community members.
Why SUSEID?
In an era where security and data autonomy are paramount, SUSE is taking a proactive step to strengthen our overall security posture. By transitioning from a fragmented collection of third-party identity providers to a unified, on-premises solution built on a collection of open source platforms, we are bringing our identity management home.
SUSEID represents more than just a technical upgrade. It is a strategic move that aligns our internal operations with the open source mindset we share with you. This transition allows us to:
- Strengthen Digital Sovereignty: We are taking full ownership of our identity data, reducing reliance on proprietary third-party stacks.
- Enhance Security: Moving to a modern, open source foundation allows us to implement more robust security protocols across all SUSE-managed services.
- Simplify the User Journey: SUSEID provides a single front door for our entire landscape, from the SUSE Customer Center (SCC) to Bugzilla and beyond.
A seamless transition
We know that your time is best spent on innovation, not on navigating IT migrations. That is why we have designed the SUSEID rollout to be as seamless as possible.
Your experience remains unchanged.
You will continue to navigate to your usual portals and log in with your existing credentials. The transition is essentially a visual refresh; when you reach the login screen, you will simply notice a clean, new design bearing the SUSEID name and a new URL: id.suse.com.
A simple step for continued security
As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest security standards, we are using this transition to ensure all accounts meet our updated security requirements.
- If you are an active user: Simply log in as you normally would. Your current password will continue to work.
- If you haven’t logged in for some time: You may be prompted to perform a one-time password reset. This is a standard security measure to ensure your account is protected under our new, hardened infrastructure.
Looking ahead
The transition to SUSEID is scheduled for June. We have taken every step to ensure this is a transparent and effortless update for our partners and customers. Should you need any support during the transition period, our teams will be standing by, ready to assist you.
By choosing SUSEID, we are not just changing a login screen; we are investing in a more secure, sovereign and simplified future for the entire SUSE community. Thank you for your continued partnership and for joining us on this journey toward a more resilient digital ecosystem.
