OEM Agreement provides customers with complete Linux Server package

Munich / Oakland

Fujitsu Siemens Computers and SUSE Linux today announced a joint offering combining PRIMERGY servers with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 - significantly simplifying the ordering process for partners and customers and more closely melding hardware and software.

The Linux option -- in response to strong demand by customers and partners in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) -- includes all PRIMERGY servers, from the entry-level system with one processor right through to the high-end 16-way server.

"The package we've put together with SUSE is especially attractive to our sales partners," said Bernd Bischoff, Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Customer Service at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "They can now offer their customers complete solutions based on PRIMERGY servers and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 with relatively little overhead."

"We believe the simplicity of this package will cause a considerable increase in demand," said Petra Heinrich, Vice President Partner Sales & Services at SUSE Linux. "With SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 on PRIMERGY servers, corporate customers can utilize the technical strengths of Linux -- while at the same time reducing the complexity and costs of their IT with an easy-to-maintain platform."

The PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers are based on Intel architecture and - due to their high level of standardization -- offer a particularly attractive price-performance ratio. PRIMERGY servers are characterized by their reliability, performance and scalability. The product family ranges from the mono-processor system to the 16-way server -- offering the right system architecture for multiple of application areas.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 combines the stability and security of Linux with a five-year system maintenance and support -- providing long-term investment protection for users. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 provides powerful, sophisticated tools for all standard server services such as file, print, web and security services. Validations for central corporate applications such as mySAP.com and Oracle databases qualify SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 as a basis for storage, application and e-commerce solutions. - end -
