Activation of PackageHub 15.1 through RMT fails with valid metadata not found error 106

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 15


Situation

Trying to activate PackageHub 15.1 on client through a SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 based RMT server returns "error 106 valid metadata not found".

SUSEConnect -p PackageHub/15.1/x86_64
Registering system to registration proxy http://rmtserver

Updating system details on http://rmtserver

Activating PackageHub 15.1 x86_64 ...
-> Adding service to system ...
-> Installing release package ...
command 'zypper --no-refresh --non-interactive install --no-recommends --auto-agree-with-product-licenses -t product PackageHub' failed
Error: zypper returned (106) with 'Error building the cache:
[SUSE_Package_Hub_x86_64:SUSE-PackageHub-15-SP1-Standard-Pool|http://rmtserver/repo/SUSE/Backports/SLE-15-SP1_x86_64/standard/?credentials=SUSE_Package_Hub_x86_64] Valid metadata not found at specified URL
Some of the repositories have not been refreshed because of an error.'

Resolution

Workaround :
Apply the same command twice. The 2nd time properly succeeds in activating Package Hub repositories without any error.

Solution :
SUSE will correct the inappropriately used GPG keys.

Cause

Certain Package Hub repositories were inappropriately signed using different GPG keys.
