SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 4 (SLES 11 SP4)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 1 (SLES 12 SP1)

While syncing repositories, the following error may be encountered in certain networks:

2016-07-26 21:23:01 SMT::SCCAPI - [info]  list products
2016-07-26 21:23:07 SMT::SCCAPI - [error]  Connection to registration server failed with: 500 CURL ERROR(28) Timeout was reached
2016-07-26 21:23:07 main - [error]  Error while fetching Product and Repository data.

As a workaround, please edit /usr/lib/perl5/vensor/*/SMT/ and change $self-connecttimeout(5) to a higher value, e.g. (30).

Future versions of smt will provide a new configuration variable that makes the timeout configurable via /etc/smt.conf:

ConnectionTimeout = 30

Please check the smt RPM changelog for bug#992764.

The timeout specified in $self-connecttimeout(5) in /usr/lib/perl5/vendor/*/SMT/ may be too short for some environments.
