IBM Power (ppc64le) virtual machines appear as physical systems in SCC

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12

Situation

While registering IBM Power (ppc64le) virtual machines to the SUSE Customer Center (SCC), those are marked as physical systems, not as virtual systems.

Resolution

This issue has been reported to Engineering.
 
Although the subscription count appears as being overused, there will be no negative impact towards any ppc64le SLES subscriptions.

Cause

SUSEConnect cannot detect the hypervisor on ppc64le.

Status

Reported to Engineering

Additional Information

This issue has a root cause in a bug in the SUSEConnect code, and as such will not cause any license compliance problems for customers.
