Can't change Task Schedule time after applying the latest for spacewalk-java-lib (2.7.46.14-2.25.1.noarch): "The scheduling service appears down. Please contact your SUSE Manager administrator"

This document (7023136) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 3.1
spacewalk-java-lib (2.7.46.14-2.25.1.noarch)

Situation

In the web-UI, in the section "Admin" --> "Task Schedules"

Clicking on, for example, "mgr-sync-refresh-default" and then changing the schedule and selecting "Update Schedule" makes an error appear:

The scheduling service appears down. Please contact your SUSE Manager administrator.

And the schedule time does not change.

/var/log/rhn/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.log shows:

INFO | jvm 1 | 2018/06/21 13:25:43 | Jun 21, 2018 1:25:43 PM redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcDispatcher writeError INFO | jvm 1 | 2018/06/21 13:25:43 | WARNING: redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: The method cannot be found. Signature: redstone.xmlrpc.XmlRpcArray

Rolling back to the previous spacewalk-java-lib spacewalk-java-lib-2.7.46.11-2.18.1.noarch fixes the issue.

Updating to: spacewalk-java-lib-2.7.46.14-2.25.1.noarch makes it fail again.

Resolution

A bug was opened to address this issue and a fix is already available. As a workaround, users can stay/roll back to the version mentioned before. Otherwise, the next maintenance update will include a fix. In urgent cases, a PTF may be requested.

Cause

Some commits were missing in the latest update for spacewalk-java. Those will be included in the next maintenance update.
