April 29, 2003

Arkeia, an international leader in enterprise backup software, announced today it has certified the new SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 for IT infrastructures operating 32-bit or 64-bit x86 systems, as well as Power PC-based environments.

Carlsbad, Calif.

Arkeia's new version 5.1 offers administrators an enhanced option for moving to the latest SUSE operating systems for complex networks.

With its hot backup plug-ins, Arkeia is the optimal backup solution for database servers structured with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and database applications such as Oracle, Lotus or MySQL. Additionally, Arkeia offers quick bare metal disaster recovery in the event of hardware failure or catastrophic events for a fast and automatic server rebuild.

"We're fully committed to maintaining our ongoing compatibility with the widely used SUSE enterprise server packages, now powered by UnitedLinux," said Phil Roussel, Arkeia CEO. "The efficiency and proven reliability of SUSE products works hand-in-hand with Arkeia's Internationally recognized business backup solution.

"Historically, Arkeia has supported SUSE solutions for years", said Juergen Geck, VP Technology Partners at SuSE. "We are pleased that Arkeia with its v5 keeps offering state-of-the-art professional backup answers for our hundreds of common enterprise customers and future users."

Arkeia was the first professional network backup solution introduced in the Linux market and now offers the widest coverage in terms of architecture, including IA32 and IA64 architectures, PowerPC, SPARC or appliances such as Sun Cobalt servers. Arkeia can also backup a broad range of other OS, including Windows, Unix, Mac OS X, NetWare and BSDs.
