Environment

SUSE OpenStack Cloud 6

Situation

Within /var/log/messages the below error messages are reported every 15 minutes on e.g. network controller nodes:

2017-06-16T16:32:46.036253+02:00 d00-00-00-c7-e1-01 ovs-vsctl: ovs|00001|db_ctl_base|ERR|no interface named eth3
2017-06-16T16:32:46.093834+02:00 d00-00-00-c7-e1-01 ovs-vsctl: ovs|00001|db_ctl_base|ERR|no interface named eth2.400
2017-06-16T16:32:46.204668+02:00 d00-00-00-c7-e1-01 ovs-vsctl: ovs|00001|db_ctl_base|ERR|no interface named br-public

Resolution

These error messages are cosmetic and can be ignored, suppression is not possible as this would also suppress probing errors.

Cause

chef-client is Probing "ovs-vsctl".
