UI Server-Side Pagination in Rancher v2.12 and Later

Rancher v2.12+


Situation

Overview

Starting with Rancher v2.12, UI Server-Side Pagination is enabled by default. This change is designed to improve UI performance when working with large numbers of objects in the Rancher UI.

How It Works

  • The feature works by caching requests made by Steve (the API component behind Rancher’s UI).

  • It does not affect other Rancher operations such as cluster provisioning or cluster management.

  • Caches are initialized at Rancher startup and help improve navigation performance, particularly in environments with high object counts (e.g., thousands of secrets or config maps).
